I began my journey into internet marketing about 4 years ago, just after I had retired from a long career in retail management. My early efforts were, to say the least, educational. Unfortunately, to be honest, until lately that is also the most that they were. As one can safely assume, my declaration that I am retired comes with the understanding, or at least suspicion that I am much further up the actuarial table than many who are undertaking this adventure. Many adages tend to creep into the psyche at this point, like teaching an old dog new tricks. There was one training program that I enrolled in where the instructor actually said that anybody “older” should upgrade to the DFY offer because they won’t most likely be able to complete the program successfully on their own. But when I look back and evaluate the efforts that I made and the lack of success of those early efforts, I can honestly say that age was not a viable reason or even an excuse. Misleading marketing, false promises and lack of support were paramount reasons. A somewhat lesser degree of technical knowledge also played into this, but there is a tempting allure to the countless webinars and email promotions that promise “newbie friendly” and no technical knowledge needed.
But those are also some of the reasons that I have been able to find the path to success that I am currently on. And I can confidently tell you that I am and will continue to succeed in this effort. Make no mistake, there are some challenges for late-comers. I look forward to sharing those with any and all of you as I move forward (no, there is no lack-of-age requirements for this). Welcome one and all.
